History of Tech Shed Connection
In The Beginning
Tech Shed Connection has grown into its current organisation from its founding as a research project into Ageing Men’s Mental Health. That project was started as an initiative of City of Canada Bay Libraries with funding from NSW Dept of Family & Community Services, Liveable Communities Grant Scheme. The objective of the project was to establish if there was a demand for a technologically focussed Men’s Shed from a cohort to whom the more traditional craft-based Men’s Sheds might not appeal. The project started under the name of Men’s Tech Shed in July 2017. In April 2018, the attendees of the last project meeting decided that becoming
a satellite of Harry’s Shed (City of Canada Bay Men’s Shed) would provide the necessary insurance and administrative support that Men’s Tech Shed needed to continue as a group.
Now and Beyond
In 2025, after seven years of affiliation with Harry’s Shed, the regular
attendees of what had come to be known as Tech Shed made the decision to separately incorporate and become an AMSA Men’s Shed in their own right. The new group name of Tech Shed Connection was selected by the members and Incorporation and AMSA membership was achieved in July 2025
Support of City of Canada Bay Libraries
Tech Shed Connection acknowledges the unwavering support of City of Canada Bay Libraries and the staff of The Learning Space in Rhodes over the past years and looks forward to our continuing relationship in the years to come.
